Our Story

From a Parish Initiative to a Trusted Institution

RWAKYAKIBUNYA SACCO began in the year 2000, born out of faith and a shared vision for community prosperity. The idea was driven by 11 founding members, lay readers, reverends and church treasurers, who regularly converged at Kibiito Parish Church of Uganda to submit their monthly church collections.

These founding members were drawn from seven churches across the parish, and it is from those churches that the name RWAKYAKIBUNYA was formed.

On 24th January 2006, RWAKYAKIBUNYA was fully registered as a savings and credit cooperative by the Registrar of Cooperatives, receiving certificate registration number 7532/RCS. The SACCO opened its first offices in Kibiito Trading Centre and began operating daily, welcoming the wider community to join.

Today, RWAKYAKIBUNYA operates from its own premises, with the head office in Kibiito Town along the Fort Portal to Kasese highway and a permanent home in Rwimi Town Council. Fully licensed by UMRA, it has grown from a small parish initiative into one of Western Uganda's most trusted community financial institutions.
